

Instructor Development Course
Dreaming of turning your passion for diving into a professional career? The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) prepares you to become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI), giving you the knowledge, skills, and confidence to teach and certify divers worldwide.
As an OWSI, you’ll lead courses, mentor students, and deliver safe, professional dive experiences, taking your diving career to the highest recreational level.
Requirements to enroll:

Be a PADI Assistant Instructor (or equivalent)

Be at least 18 years old

Have 60 logged dives with documented experience in night diving, deep diving, and underwater navigation to begin the course

Have 100 logged dives by the time of taking the Instructor Examination (IE)

Hold a current CPR and first aid certification (within the last 24 months)

Complete the medical questionnaire and waiver
Theory:
The IDC includes knowledge development modules, covering dive theory, teaching methodology, course management, diver psychology, and safety protocols. You’ll learn how to deliver effective and engaging instruction to students of all levels.
Practical training:
Hands-on training includes confined water and open water teaching sessions, supervising students, and demonstrating the full range of PADI courses under instructor supervision. You’ll gain experience in planning and conducting courses safely and confidently.
What you’ll be qualified to do:
Upon successful completion, you’ll be a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI), qualified to teach and certify divers worldwide and progress your professional diving career.
